A gum paste bow is a beautiful finish for any cake! It is quick, easy to do, and adds a real “wow” factor to your cake.
Roll your gum paste and use a ravioli cutter to cut loops. I used thin loops for this gum paste bow. If you want a thicker bow, you will need fewer loops to make your bow. Remember to cut 5-8 loops of varying sizes. I made about 35 loops for my thin gum paste bow. See this example for a thicker bow (I used 20 loops for this one). For Alex’s 21st birthday, her mom wanted her cake to look like a present with a pretty pink bow. It was time to break out the gum-paste!
I quickly colored the paste a brilliant pink with candy color and rolled it out until it was very thin. Then, it was time to cut ribbons and assemble.
